**HIROSHIMA AREA TRAVEL UPDATE 14TH JULY 2018**

We have been advised that bus routes to and from the airport are now working normally. Delegates who are leaving from Hiroshima airport after the congress who planned to get the limousine bus, should be able to do that now without difficulty.

 ** HIROSHIMA AREA TRAVEL UPDATE 12th JULY 2018 **

Lots of delegates are successfully arriving in Hiroshima, although we are aware of some flight delays to delegates travelling via Shanghai and Taipei. There is no change to advice regarding transport from Hiroshima airport to the city center. Buses from the airport will take you to a train station, from where you can take a train to the city. Taxis or street cars can then take you to your destination. See the travel updates below for further details.

** HIROSHIMA AREA TRAVEL UPDATE 11th JULY 2018 **

International members of the Congress Organising Team are now either en route to or in Hiroshima! Several members of teh international congress organising team, taking different flights to Hiroshima, have had a relatively easy journey from Hiroshima airport into the City, via the bus then the bullet train. Very helpful staff at Hiroshima airport are able to advise on the best current routes, as these may change daily as road repairs are completed.

Some flights into Hiroshima Airport are delayed but the airport bus service has been extended beyond the posted schedule to accommodate travelers.

**LATEST NEWS FROM HIROSHIMA 9th JULY**

Travel from the Hiroshima Airport (HIJ) to Hiroshima City Center

Recent heavy rains have damaged the main highway between the airport and city so the normal method of travel, the airport limousine bus from the airport to the city, is not available.  You can see the airport limousine bus status here (http://www.hij.airport.jp/english/)

However, train service is running on schedule, and you can take an airport limousine bus from the airport to two different train stations: Mihara and Fukuyama.  These stations are to the east of the airport and the city is to the west, but getting to the train will get you to the city.  Both stations will have frequent trains that will take you to Hiroshima Station.

It is about a 35 minute walk from the Hiroshima Station to the International Conference Center, or about 30 minutes to the Hiroshima Bus Center.  Local trains can take you to Shin-Hakushima Station, which may be closer to your hotel.  A taxi from the Hiroshima Station to city center is roughly 1500 JPY, depending of course where and when.

From Hiroshima Station to the central part of Hiroshima City, delegates can take street cars.

The nearest stops to the venue are Genbaku Dome-mae, Hondori, Fukuro-machi (nearest stop from ANA Crowne Plaza as well), and Chuden-mae (the nearest stop from Hotel Sunroute as well). The fare is only 180 JPY (1.50 USD) anywhere inside of the central part of Hiroshima City.

** LATEST NEWS FROM HIROSHIMA 8th JULY 2018**

A message to Congress attendees from Dr Nori Kawai, Event Coordinator of the OWMV Congress, who lives in Hiroshima:

As you may know, heavy rain and flash floods hit Western Japan including Hiroshima over the last few days. However, the central part of Hiroshima City is not seriously damaged. Now both Shinkansen (bullet trains) and airlines that arrive and depart Hiroshima Airport/Station are operating with nearly normal schedules. Although, JR ordinary train lines and highways are not restored yet, it is expected that these will be back to normal within a couple of days. Therefore, the congress will be held as originally scheduled. The Congress Organising Team will keep delegates updated if the situation changes. According to the current weather forecast, it will be clear almost all the time during our congress.
