Jenny Packer is a Speech and Language Therapist working for the National Health Service in the United Kingdom. Qualifying with a BSc (Hons) from the University of Newcastle in 2000, Jenny currently works in South East Essex with a specialist caseload offering assessment and treatment for adults and children with disorders of fluency alongside supervision and advice for less experienced therapists in the local area. Jenny completed a Masters degree at Trinity College, Dublin, in 2010 specialising in disorders of fluency and has also completed the European Clinical Specialization in Fluency Disorders. In 2010 Jenny was awarded the Travers Reid award for her Masters dissertation: 'Consulting Parents about Speech and Language Therapy and Stuttering: Are We Telling Them What They Want to Know?' In addition to her clinical work, Jenny teaches the Fluency module for Essex University Masters level SLT students and has recently contributed to a new guide for parents and professionals working with selective mutism, drawing comparisons between stuttering and selective mutism.
